Sample Complaint Letter to Landlord About Carpet Mold

Dear Mr. Lewis,

I am the tenant for Apt #327b in Pine Springs Apartment Complex. I signed my lease in January, and for the most part, I have been happy with the quiet atmosphere, pool and the location. However, recently, I have become very upset after discovering mold was growing under the carpet.

I have left you two voice mail messages regarding this issue. Since you have not responded, this my next step at resolving this matter. Mold is a serious health hazard and can cause allergies, headaches and even interfere with breathing. I am kindly asking you to please take care of this immediately.

Please contact me regarding your plans for removing the mold no later than August 5th. If the problem is not resolved, I will be calling the Better Business Bureau. I will also be seeking legal counsel to break my lease.

If the mold is treated and removed soon, I will agree to not discuss this on social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter. Provided there are no future issues, I will also not leave negative apartment reviews online.

You can reach me at (501)123-4567. Please contact me immediately.

Respectfully,

Tara Tenant

Sample Complaint Letter to Landlord About Mold in Basement

Dear Mrs. Morrison,

My husband and I are the tenants for your rental home located at 54321 Hyper Hyena Drive. I signed my lease in August about 6 weeks ago. Overall, we are happy with the size and location of the home.

However, shortly after we moved in, I discovered my allergies had gotten worse. My physician urged me to check the home for mold. Sure enough, we discovered mold in an area of the basement. It needs to be treated and removed by a professional.

This has been very upsetting to us, and we are asking you to have it removed immediately. Please contact us about your plans for removing the mold no later than September 25th. You can reach us at (323)435-3421 or my husbands cell at (323)565-5454.

If the problem is not resolved soon, we will be seeking legal counsel for breaking our lease and will contact the Better Business Bureau. Mold is a very serious health hazard. Please contact us immediately,

Sincerely,

Larry and Mary McPherry

Rental life offers many perks. You aren't responsible for repairs, you don't have to pay property taxes, and you are not committed to a long-term mortgage.

Unfortunately, rental life has many downsides as well. The landlord can choose to unexpectedly raise your rent for next year. However, you have a voice. And, your voice can help persuade a landlord to make changes.

If you've recently learned that your rent will be increasing, consider writing a letter to your landlord. By kindly and considerately sharing your thoughts, your landlord might reconsider the rent increase, or offer you a one-time discount. More than likely your letter will be ignored, but it is worth a try.

Below are some sample letters to help you write your own letter. If possible, type the letter. Write the letter in business letter format.

Sample Landlord Letter Regarding Apartment Rent Increase

Dear Mr. Darborough,

I am the tenant for apartment #143b in the Wild Oaks Apartment Complex. I signed my lease in August of 2017. I have resided here for about ten months.

Overall, I am very pleased with my housing choice. This apartment has been perfect for me. I am a graduate student and I love that it is in a quiet area, and convenient to school and shopping. I am also happy with the maintenance, and I love that you respond immediately to repairs. I really like the on-site gym and enjoy exercising there. The pool is also an excellent feature. You own a beautiful property!

However, I am upset with the news of the upcoming rent increase. I do understand, Mr. Darborough that apartment life can be expensive. However, I would like you to please kindly reconsider the rent increase.

I have checked with other similar apartment complexes, and they are not planning a rent increase within the next year. This makes the Wild Oaks Apartment Complex the most expensive one in about a five mile radius. These complexes, such as the Canyon View Apartment Complex and the Southern Meadows Village, offer similar amenities.

Please consider matching the price of comparable properties. If you do so, I will be able to renew my lease. If that is not possible, I would like you to consider providing me with a discount of 1/2 off my September rent. If I were to move out, you would lose a few weeks worth of rent, as well as have to pay for carpet cleaning. Therefore, I consider that to be a win-win situation.

Please feel free to contact me anytime at (343)234-3432. You can also reach me at Miathemedicalstudent@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Mia Sanchez

Source Source Sample Landlord Letter Regarding Townhouse Rent Increase

Dear Mrs. Killeen,

My family and I reside in unit 54b in the Twin Oak Townhouse Village. We signed our lease almost two years ago in May of 2016. Our plan was to live here for four years, while my husband completed his residency.

The townhome has been perfect for our family. It is convenient to the bus route, is a great size, and we love the immaculate condition it came in. In additon, we have become friends with some of our neighbors.

Unfortunately, we are not happy with the news of the rent increase. While we do understand that property taxes are going up, as well as the cost of upkeep, we feel that the increase is too steep. Please consider lowering the increase to $50.

The reason why we ask is because there are similar properties in the area that rent for less than the Twin Oak Townhouses. In fact, one rents for less but offers a gym, which this complex does not have.

If you reconsider the rent increase, my family and I will be able to renew our lease. However, if you do not, more than likely we will have no choice but to relocate. I feel that our neighbors would also be more likely to stay as well.

Thank-you for reconsidering your rent increase. Please do not hesitate to reach me if you have any questions. My number is (342)433-4343. Have a great day!

Respectfully,

Julie Wooly

Writing a letter takes some effort, careful thinking, and research. Even if nothing comes for writing and mailing your letter, you will at least know that you did everything possible to change the matter. Good Luck!

Appartment Manager Noise Complaint Letter Template

Page 1 ( 4.6 based on 998 votes) March 21, 2013 Pauline Mitchell , Owner Hudson Apartmen ts P.O. Box 332 Sioux City, IA 51 123 Dear Ms. Mit chell: I live in your 256 D avis/Elmwood building, apartme nt #354. As I write th is letter, the din from my upstairs neighbors is al l but drowning out the sound of the typewriter. You must be aware that the Choms (ap t. 454) have six ch ildren, all under the age of 12, in a one - bedroom apartment. I have been a ten ant in your building for six years now , and have neve r had cause to co mplain about my neighbors before. But the kind of commotion in t he Chom apartment disrupts the li ves of everyone who lives below, above, or to either side of them. The noise is vir tually constant from six in the mo rning to ten or elev en at night. The ch ildren run up and d own the hal lw ays at all hours, use the wheelchai r ramp as a playground, and j ump so hard on their floors that the plaster is flaking off my ceiling. More seri ously, the crowding of eight people in a one - bedroom apartment violates our local zoning laws. I am not again st children in apartment buildings, just against packing so many of them into one small space. If you cannot arrange other accommodations for thi s family, I shall be forced t o report you to the local zoning board. O ther tenants I have talked to are also wi lling to take th is step. Please see what you can do to rectify this situation and let the r est of us get some sleep. Thank you.
